I feel both delighted and privileged to welcome you to Testbourne Community School’s website as the Headteacher of such a unique place of learning.
Testbourne Community School is exactly that: a community for learning. We understand that we have been entrusted with your children’s future and we work in partnership with you and your children to ensure that they are happy, safe, well looked after. We want our students to enjoy and value their education whilst making the best academic progress possible.
As educators, we have always believed in the power of education to transform lives and it is the right of every child to receive education of the highest quality. We want children to value their time at our school and to embrace school life with enthusiasm and commitment. We believe that children should have the opportunity to develop the qualities of kindness, thoughtfulness, responsibility and courteousness whilst learning to respect all members of our community including, most importantly, themselves.
At Testbourne Community School we have exceptionally high expectations. We expect children to excel academically and to develop and excel in their other areas of interest. We expect the highest standards of behaviour and effort and want them to take advantage of every opportunity they are provided with, both inside the classroom and outside of it.
We are fortunate at Testbourne Community School that we have a highly dedicated, passionate and exceptionally skilled body of staff. These committed people provide opportunities for students to achieve excellence within the classroom as well as providing incredible opportunities for students to develop a huge range of skills and interests in sport, music, drama, dance and art. Highlights have included our biennial international music tours with our concert orchestra and award winning Bella Voce choir; our highly successful and extravagant theatrical productions; our exceptional educational visits such as those to the World War I battlefields; our engineering competition entries including winning the Year 7 AWE Brathay Apprenticeship Engineering Challenge; our scientific competition entries with examples such as the Nasa Cubes in Space competition where a win resulted in our Year 9 and Year 11 students sending an experiment into space on a Nasa rocket. In addition to these opportunities we also boast a range of sporting and academic successes including outstanding proportions of students achieving grade 4+ in GCSE English and Maths.
We enjoy working with our primary partners to ensure smooth transition from primary school and equally we pride ourselves on supporting students in choices regarding their destination when they leave us; over 98% of our students, significantly more than the national average, go on to exciting education, employment and training opportunities.
I am very proud of our students, our school and our community and would encourage you to engage in your child’s journey with us to witness their fantastic achievements for yourself. We welcome any comments and contributions you may wish to make and we always welcome visitors to the school. Just contact our school office by firstname.lastname@example.org or 01256 892061.
