TCS Prize Giving Ceremony

On Wednesday 17th July we held our inaugural Prize Giving Ceremony in the stunning surroundings of the Guildhall, Winchester. It was a fantastic evening of celebration with over 145 students receiving awards in the company of staff, parents and guests.

Bella Voce provided high quality musical entertainment during the ceremony and they sounded exquisite in the superb acoustics of the Bapsy Hall. We were privileged to have Mrs Jean Thorpe, Secondary School Improvement Manager for Hampshire Inspection and Advisory Service, as our guest speaker. Jean gave a really thought-provoking speech which encouraged us all to be kind, try something new and act with integrity.

Students in each year group received awards for effort and achievement across all subjects. Our Heads of Year also presented awards to their year groups to recognise our learning qualities of courage, integrity, ambition, respect, leadership and responsibility. Senior Leadership Team Awards went to students who showed exemplary effort and behaviour, who are fantastic ambassadors for the school. Trophies were presented to recipients of the overall subject awards which recognised students who have shown exceptional dedication and commitment.  We were fortunate to have sponsors, Mrs Philippa Roll, Director of Skills Shift Ltd to present the Maths Award and Mrs Christine Beresford, Chair of Whitchurch Silk Mill Trust to present the Technology Award.

The evening concluded with three very deserving recipients getting one of the special awards. Penny Horner, Chair of Governors, presented the Governors’ Award to Aliya Briggs (Year 7), Mrs Penny Burt, Chair of the PTFA, presented the Community Award to Joe Baron (Year 10) and Mr Jon Beck presented the Headteacher’s Award to Jack Lee Smith (Year 10).

Congratulations to all our award winners and thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and made it such a successful evening. We are looking forward to Prize Giving 2020 already.
