WHY WOULD IT BE GOOD FOR ME TO TAKE THIS SUBJECT?

This course would appeal to you if:

  • You are interested in working in Health or Care
  • You enjoy project based work
  • You enjoy learning about people and how we work well with all people throughout their life

WHAT WOULD I DO?

You would study three units of work in Years 10 and 11, 2 of which are internally assessed through a variety of written and practical coursework projects and 1 of which is externally assessed in the form of an exam which will be taken in year 11. As the course is based on practical experience we also visit a variety of Health and Social Care settings both for observations and to work with service users. These include nurseries, play schools and day care centres and the Virtual Baby programme.

The units of study would be the following:

  • Explore Human Lifespan & development 30% internally assessed
  • Develop - Health & Social Care Services and Values 30 % internally assessed
  • Apply - Health & Wellbeing 40% externally assessed

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?

The award is graded as level 1 and level 2, with 3 grades at l1 (pass, merit and distinction) and 4 grades at level 2 (pass, merit distinction and distinction *)
